Mars, Again

I pointed a gun at the head of the lock.
"Do you check irises? Who's do you need? I'll go get it. They only need one."
"How long have you had that one?"
"Four days."
"You may enter."

I found myself again before the prophet.
"Oh I'm glad you came back. I'm so sorry about your friend."
Was she my friend? I told him what I came to tell him
"I have destroyed the earth."
"Have you?"
"With a virus, In a few days people will start dying, In a month earth will have an ecosystem incompatible with human life."
"And this is irreversible?"
I thought perhaps I had already revealed too much "Yes."
He had a far off look "This is unfortunate. You should leave quickly."
"It is genocide!" I realized I had been expect him to ask me to surrender.
"No, you're destroying one planet, and the death of that planet is not genocide. There are no peoples on earth that are not represented elsewhere. Genocide is a measure of what is lost. I've been to earth recently, not much will be be lost."
I nodded.
"I expect The Sol System will now approve the treaty, and humanity will follow, but if you robbed them of Jerusalem and Mecca, Hong Kong, The Ganges, Mountain View, Buffalo. Treaties will not be able to protect you."
"So I run."
"When you leave here, what remains is not your motivation, but the change that you made. The good are not always virtuous, and their actions are not always good."
